Why only Ladies?

We have created this tour based on feedback from our guests over the years. Many women have said that they would love to travel, but don’t have anyone to travel with. Traveling in a group is less expensive than traveling alone, and often safer, too. Many solo travelers don’t want to be stuck in a group made up of only couples, and they aren’t looking to be harassed by other passengers.

As a woman Tour Director, I feel that my “Ladies Only” tours are a great way for me to share my passion for travel with guests who otherwise may not be willing or able to travel

 Meet your tour director,  Lorna Holland. We will provide transportation from Rome airport to your hotel. Leave our luggage at the Hotel.

Start our Guided Tour of this ancient city. Visit the most famous attractions and hidden treasures of the Eternal city. You explore the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, as well as witness the masterpieces by Bernini and many others.

The highlight of your day is a tour of the most well-recognized sight of Rome - the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.  

After the tour you return to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

 In the morning after breakfast we head to the Vatican. With a private guide, you visit private apartments of Julius II, Pinecone Courtyard, Gallery of the Maps, Gallery of the Tapestries and Gallery of Candelabra.

Next you proceed to the Sistine Chapel, where you have enough time to admire Michelangelo's famous frescoes and learn about the intense relationship between Pope Julius II and Michelangelo that drove the artist to create the greatest work of art the world has ever known.

Your tour continues in the vast open spaces of St. Peter’s Basilica where you see the stunning Pieta - a world-famous work of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo, and Bernini's impressive Papal Canopy, a legacy left to the Basilica by the Barberini family.

The ending point of your tour is St. Peter’s Square, where you can admire Michelangelo's Dome and the gorgeous colonnades designed by Bernini.

After the tour the rest of the day is free to enjoy the beauty of Rome, sightseeing and shopping.

Check out of our hotel and depart to Florence via Railway. Check in at hotel and start exploring the city. Visit the Academia to see the David, then time to explore the Duomo and museum.

Art, history, countryside, food. Tuscany has it all. Tuscany day trip from Florence to discover the region’s highlights with a local guide. Explore the city of Siena and the cathedral, and then take to the Chianti hills for a Tuscan lunch and wine tasting. Roam the streets of San Gimignano, and travel to Pisa to admire the architectural drama of Cathedral Square — home to the UNESCO-listed Leaning Tower of Pisa. *Entry to Tower of Pisa not included.

Return to Florence in the evening in time for dinner on your own.

Visit the Uffizi, one of the most important museums in all of Europe.  Free time for sightseeing and shopping after lunch.

Free time to explore Florence. In the afternoon, we will meet up to visit Piazza Michelangelo for a spectacular view of the city followed by a traditional Florentine dinner.

Today we check out of our hotel and travel by train to Rovereto where we will meet our private transportation to the Dolomites. We will stop along the way to discover the history and culture of Grappa and see beautiful scenery on our way to the mountains.

Today we explore the Tre Cime, the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, the most photographed mountain range in the Dolomites.  This morning we will drive to Lake Misurina and the Tre Cime (Three Peaks).  The valley of Misurina is reported to have some of the cleanest air in the entire world.  In fact, there is an institute there that treats children with lung development problems.  We will stop for pictures along the way in the Dolomites.  

Lunch for the group today will be at our favorite restaurant in the Dolomites.  We will sample a smorgasbord of cheeses, stews, wild game (optional!), polenta, and more.  The family has been running the kitchen for decades, and you will leave feeling like you have family in Misurina.

After a heavy lunch, we will climb (OK, drive…the bus will climb!) to the top of the mountain to marvel at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.  Hopefully the weather will be clear, and you will have a spectacular view from the top!  There is an option to walk along a path around the base of one of the Peaks (about 2 miles there and back, mostly flat).  There is a small chapel along the way, and a rifugio (mountain hut) where we can find refreshments.  If you prefer, there are panoramic windows in the rifugio next to the parking lot.  

In the afternoon, we will return to our hotel, where you can enjoy the evening.

This morning, we will check out of our hotel and drive towards Venice.  We will pass through some of the most beautiful places in the Dolomiti National Park, with stops for photos along the way. 

We will lunch at the home of a winemaking family in Valdobbiadene, Land of Prosecco.  After a home-cooked meal, we will stop at a family vineyard to learn more about what makes Prosecco more special than other sparkling white wines.  (Opportunities to buy Prosecco at both locations.) 

We will continue to Venice, and check in to our hotel.  You may stay close to the hotel, or wander the streets of Venice with your Tour Director to find an aperitivo together, or take a walk alone to experience Venice for yourself.

See the best of Venice in a day on a tour that combines a guided walk with a cruise along the bustling Grand Canal. Hear the history of St Mark’s Square and Rialto Bridge from a guide, and visit St Mark’s Basilica with a skip-the-line ticket to beat the long admission lines. Discover the tucked-away treasures of Venice’s backstreets and charming canals, and then finish on a high note: a water taxi cruise on the Grand Canal.

Free time to explore the island in the morning.

**At VaFeltre Tours, we do not believe in selling optional excursions on tour.  However, in Venice, we do have a friend with a very unique option that would need to be booked in advance.  She has a few small boats, and can teach you how to row like a Gondolier!!  There are cicchetti (Venetian appetizers) and Prosecco to reward you for your hard work. While the lesson is not overly strenuous, it does require a degree of balance, coordination, and effort, and we realize that this is not for everyone, which is why we keep it optional.  The cost is 125 Euro per person and can be paid in cash on the tour.  She runs lessons almost daily, and we can book even just one passenger, if one person is interested and the rest of the group is not.
